Hello, I’m Laura

Thank you for taking the time to visit my website.

Laura Gil Care was created from something very personal to me—a genuine love of spending time with older people and a belief that growing older should never mean feeling lonely or losing your independence.

Some of my happiest memories are of the close relationship I shared with my own grandmother. I always loved spending time with her, listening to her stories, chatting over a cup of tea and simply enjoying each other’s company. Those experiences taught me that companionship can be just as important as practical support.

As a mother of two wonderful young daughters, I know how much family, kindness and connection matter. I also understand how busy life can become and how difficult it can be for families to provide the time and support they would like for an older parent or loved one.

My husband works in healthcare and often returns home having visited older patients who are struggling to remain independent. Time and again, he would tell me how many people didn’t need intensive care—they simply needed someone to help with everyday things. A lift to a medical appointment, a trip to the supermarket, help preparing a meal, a little support in the garden, or simply someone to spend time talking with.

Listening to these stories made me realise there was a gap that I could help fill.

That’s why I created Laura Gil Care.

I believe that small acts of kindness can make an enormous difference. Sometimes, having one familiar, trusted person who visits regularly can help someone feel happier, more confident and able to continue enjoying life in their own home.

I naturally enjoy caring for people and creating welcoming spaces. I love cooking, meal preparation, gardening, painting, reading and travelling, and I enjoy sharing those interests with others. Whether we’re baking together, tending to the garden, visiting a local café, shopping for fresh ingredients or simply enjoying a conversation over a cup of tea, every visit is centred around what brings joy and meaning to that person’s day.

I speak both English and Spanish and pride myself on being warm, dependable and approachable. Friends and family know me as someone who genuinely enjoys helping others and takes the time to listen.

Over the years I’ve supported older relatives, helped elderly neighbours and volunteered within the charity sector. These experiences have reinforced something I have always believed—that everyone deserves to feel valued, respected and connected, regardless of their age.

My philosophy is simple:

Getting older should never mean feeling lonely or losing your independence. It should be a time to enjoy life’s simple pleasures, maintain meaningful connections and continue doing the things that bring happiness.

When I leave at the end of each visit, my hope is that every client feels happier than when I arrived—listened to, valued, supported and more confident to continue living independently.

If you’re looking for friendly, personalised companionship for yourself or someone you love, I’d be delighted to meet you for a chat and discuss how I can help.

I look forward to meeting you.

Laura
